Mariton: June Rainfall

July 4, 2014

by Tim Burris, Preserve Manager

June filled the rain gauge with 5.46 inches of rain at Mariton.  That is roughly ½ inch above average for the month.  When talking about averages I like to add in the outliers:  the highs and lows that affect the average.  The wettest June was last year when we received 11.27 inches.  The driest was in 1999 when we only received 1.36 inches.  That is quite a range of extremes.

So, we continue to carry a surplus of nearly 6 ½ inches into July (another month known for its extremes in precipitation).
