Mariton: Here Comes the Rain Again
by Tim Burris, Preserve Manager
There are a ton of “rain” songs, but this morning it was Annie Lennox’s haunting vocal on Here Comes the Rain Again that ran through my mind as I walked the trails in the drizzle. We have had a lot of rain this winter. After last Friday night’s thunderstorms, I wasn’t sure I really wanted to see anymore. Emma and I spent a good part of Monday cleaning up trails from wash outs. Perhaps I should have been humming Creedence Clearwater’s Who’ll Stop the Rain?.
But I can generally find a silver lining in any cloud, so it wasn’t long before I found several interesting fungi on logs along the trails. I have been walking past these Turkey Tails and other mushrooms all winter, but somehow during a spring rain they seemed awakened and a little more vibrant. It is easy to feel uplifted on a sunny day. A true outdoorsman can find happiness in all weather.

I hope you enjoy!
