Local food, fun & fundraisers

June 9, 2011

If you’re into local music and local food then this weekend, June 11 and 12 you should attend the Maysie’s FarmFest 2011. Maysies Farm Conservation Center is a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm in nearby Ludwig’s Corner that is holding a two-day festival of music and local food. The event will be carbon neutral and some of the food will be harvested from the farm during the event and immediately prepared. The event is co-sponsored by WXPN, Victory Brewing, and Ludwig’s Inn, and is the largest annual fundraiser for Maysie’s Farm Conservation Center.

Next week the Hay Creek Watershed Association will benefit from meals purchased at the Sly Fox Brewhouse in Phoenixville on June 16. Just print out and bring the coupon at the link immediately above and the Sly Fox will donate 20% of proceeds from your purchases that day to HCWA. The Hay Creek is the next watershed over the hill from us at Crow’s Nest and they are a partner in the Hopewell Big Woods conservation effort.

Next month there will be a fun event at Natural Lands ChesLen Preserve: Friday Night Lights on July 8. S’mores, starwatching, and nocturnal raptors will be featured along with music by Dan May. This event is co-sponsored by WXPN and members of either Natural Lands or WXPN get half off admission.
