More fire training completed

June 9, 2011

Two more staff from Natural Lands Trust completed the federal S-230, Crew Boss course this week at the Mid-Atlantic Wildfire Incident Management Academy. Tom Kershner and Dan Barringer spent three days in class at University of West Virginia this week. The instruction, by foresters from Pennsylvania’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, was excellent.

The purpose of the training is to meet the Pennsylvania state standards for conducting prescribed fire on Natural Lands Trust preserves. Joe Vinton, our Bear Creek Preserve Manager, will be attending the same course at Penn State this summer.
