Crow’s Nest: New calves arrive!
This afternoon Jack brought us the new steers that we will be using to graze specific habitats to improve them for wildlife, something we call, “Prescribed grazing.”
The kids from WebWigglers were on hand for their unloading and they shared in the excitement as the steers ran around their new, temporary pasture.
Later in the evening the calves settled down and looked more comfortable…
…while the older pair of steers looked on from the pasture across the lane.
Meanwhile the kids went to the stream to catch tadpoles from a drying puddle and release them in the next one over, one that is less likely to dry up this spring.
