Mariton: Nest Box Activity

There is lots of new activity in the nest boxes this week.  Tree Swallows have started two nests.  Chickadees also have two new nests.

Above is the Chickadee nest I reported on last week.  There are 8 eggs in the nest. 

Both of the Bluebird nests now have 5 eggs each.  The boxes are being watched closely by the males, as the female sits on the eggs.  The next time you visit Mariton, you should be able to see one of the adults while standing the parking lot.  If you are in the fields, check the powerlines near the benches.  I have been seeing a male perched there regularly.
