Crow’s Nest: January volunteer day
By Daniel Barringer, Preserve Manager.
While we had to cancel the day of service we were holding in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., due to extreme weather, we did hold our monthly volunteer work day on the first Wednesday of the month. Here’s our robust group posing after clearing invasive plants from a section of woods.
Volunteers are making a huge difference for us in the management of the preserve. Visitors and wildlife alike benefit from the removal of multiflora rose, autumn olive, Japanese barberry, and vines that outcompete native shrubs and the next generation of trees. We are grateful for the people who share their time with us and help us leverage our work to accomplish so much more.
