Crow’s Nest: Camp Week One
By Daniel Barringer, Preserve Manager. Photos by Pete Smyrl and Aubrey Smith.
It wasn’t a week of lounging around for the sixth graders at Crow’s Nest Camp—though building groups in the woods might have included hammocks. This is the age group that masters the full geography of Crow’s Nest Preserve by completing the Crow’s Nest Challenge Hike—an end-to-end traverse of the 621-acre preserve.
There was the usual creek play and tree climbing and building shelters out of scaffolding in the woods.
There were critters to find and friendships to forge.
