Our last week of camp is for our oldest group of kids, and it is fun to watch kids who we’ve known for years at camp grow up and explore the world. This camp is designed to show kids how Crow’s Nest fits in to the larger conservation picture in our region, so the kids kayak in nearby French Creek State Park before putting boats in on the Schuylkill Canal and River.

We also check out other Natural Lands Preserves; this year we went hiking at Fulshaw Craeg Preserve (below).

The campers also do a service project to give back to the preserve. Below, preparing to cut vines.

We’re sad to see the 8th graders age out of our summer programs, but then, there’s always our Teen Volunteer group that meets year round, so we’ll likely see more of them.
