Mariton: Spring Birding

Yellow-rumped Warbler
The first of Mariton’s Tuesday Bird Walks was on May 1. The leaves hadn’t really popped yet and there were a lot of birds to see. Before we even got on the trail, we watched birds in the white pines near the Nature Center for a long time. We were treated by Yellow-rumped Warblers, Palm Warblers, Black and White Warblers, and really good views of American Redstarts.
The Rose-breasted Grosbeaks were singing merrily and we got good views of them. Later on the trail, we found another patch of warblers and saw Magnolia Warblers, Black-throated Green Warblers, among more warblers that we had already seen.
It was a good morning, and the first of many great bird sightings on these weekly walks.
