Mariton: January Preipitation

February 3, 2014

by Tim Burris, Preserve Manager

It is no surprise to anyone living here that we had a lot of snow in January.  By the end of the month, I had recorded 3.82 inches of precipitation.  That is almost 0.50 inches above my average for the month.  What may be surprising is that about half of the month’s precipitation came in the form of rain!  I know the snow and cold is what dominates our memory of January 2014, but we received quite a bit of rain during the brief thaws.  The snow came during the cold spells.  That made it a dry snow which yielded little precipitation when it was melted and measured.
