Hopewell Furnace internship opportunity

October 31, 2019

By Daniel Barringer, Preserve Manager.

Our friends at Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, just upstream from Crow’s Nest Preserve, have an internship opportunity as a Community Volunteer Ambassador.

Hopewell Furnace is one of my favorite places to visit—the next valley over from us, yet seeming to be a century removed. We work with the National Park Service through the Hopewell Big Woods partnership to achieve many common goals for the landscapes we share. Therefore the Community Volunteer Ambassador (CVA) will likely have some interaction with Natural Lands and Crow’s Nest.

The CVA will assist the park managers in creating new volunteer opportunities and special events and play a key role in training volunteers and implementing an outreach plan. It’s a full-time, 50-week internship with a stipend administered by AmeriCorps, and housing may be provided. Anticipated start date is February 10, 2020. Deadline to apply is December 20, 2019.
