May 11, 2024 | 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm

This gathering is exclusive to members and guests of the Allston Jenkins Legacy and White Oak Societies, Natural Lands’ most forward thinking and loyal supporters.

A visit to the deep forests at Sadsbury Woods is like stepping back in time to what Pennsylvania looked like centuries ago.

Join us for a guided hike led by Erin Smith, our Sadsbury Woods Preserve manager as we explore a portion of the largest remaining, unfragmented woodlands in Chester County.

Bring your binoculars! Sadsbury Woods Preserve is an important habitat for the Scarlet Tanager, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and Ovenbird.

Walk will be limited to 25 guests. To register or learn more about trail length and conditions contact Kersten Appler kappler@natlands.org or 610-353-5587 x313.

Sadsbury Woods is part of the largest remaining, unfragmented woodlands in Chester County. The preserve is an important habitat for several species of birds—such as Scarlet Tanager, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and Ovenbird—that are dependent on its deep, sheltering forest for their survival.

Located at the headwaters of Buck Run, a major tributary to Brandywine Creek, the preserve also helps to keep the stream clean and clear.

  • The hike is over rocky, uneven terrain that includes slight elevation changes. We encourage you to bring a walking stick, sturdy shoes, water and binoculars.
  • We plan to cover approximately 3-4 miles.
  • Camaraderie and refreshments to follow.
  • Please leave four-legged friends at home.
  • Please check for ticks post walk

Help us all stay safe:

  • If you are sick or feeling unwell, please stay home.
  • Masking is optional. Participants may choose to mask at any time.
