Researchers from Penn State will be doing research at Crow’s Nest this year on the spotted lanternfly (Lycorma deliculata), the invasive insect pest spreading throughout our region. They will be studying methods of assessing population density, evaluating the impact on the trees from which the insects are draining sap, and measuring distances the insect can disperse on its own. We’re hoping that what these studies reveal will help land managers deal with the pest.
