Crow’s Nest: Showy snow

It was worth getting outside as soon as the snow stopped today, while it still clung to tree branches. Above, the wetland restoration we performed on the site of the former pond looks great in the snow with the Jim Thorne memorial footbridge in the background. The photo below shows the same scene in context of the valley through which the stream flows.

Below, the Chief’s Grove rises dramatically out of the meadow of warm-season grasses.

Above, a farm field curves alongside Piersol Road. The forested ridge in the background is Buzzard Hill in French Creek State Park. Below, more farm fields in the valley of Crow’s Nest Preserve. The wooded hill in the upper right is Mt. Pleasure in Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, the one in the distance on the left is Thomas Hill in State Game Lands #43.
