On Saturday we hosted graduate students in Environmental Studies from University of Pennsylvania. Each year a Lisa Kiziuk brings her class to the preserve, one of several field trips in between the required reading (Lisa is the Director of Bird Conservation at Willistown Conservation Trust.)

We walk around the preserve talking about the stewardship efforts used to sustain the things we see: invasive plant management, deer management, prescribed fire, hazard tree work, prescribed grazing, and how we manage public use. Saturday started off wet but soon dried out into a nice day so we took an impromptu hayride. (We now have permanent benches in the haywagon so we don’t have to keep loading and unloading hay in response to the weather.) This is always a fun group to have visit.
