On April 20 we’ll be holding a walk at Crow’s Nest to seek out some of the earliest of spring-ephemeral wildflowers—the round-lobed hepatica (Anemone americana). Also called liverleaf or liverwort the nomenclature of this plant has changed in recent years: it used to be called Hepatica nobilis var. obtusa. Whenever I am unsure of the current accepted name I check the Flora of Pennsylvania website.
