Crow’s Nest: Continued vigilance for spotted lanternfly egg masses
By Daniel Barringer, Preserve Manager.
If you are out and about this winter be sure to look for spotted lanternfly egg masses. I found several on Sunday on ironwood (Carpinus caroliniana) trunks. This tree’s smooth but sinewy bark seems to be popular with the lanternflies. Scrape and bag ’em if you can to prevent the spread of this newly-introduced invasive insect.
