Crow’s Nest: All clear (and crisp)

The parking area is cleared, packed snow over gravel. We received about 6″ last night. In the sun and out of the wind it’s pretty nice. In the photo above the steers and goat have a snack under a blue sky. Check out a short video on the Natural Lands Trust FaceBook page to see how windy it was this morning.

It is rare that I would use both the lawnmower and the snowplow within a 24 hour period, but I did this week. With snow forecast I mowed the brambles in the patch of meadow below the sledding hump to give us more run-off space; the rest of our meadows will be mowed as late in winter as we can go and still have firm ground. Yes, the hump in our sledding slope behind the visitor center is the sand mound for the septic system. Once this snow packs it should be good sledding; it’s already good cross-country skiing.
