help name our new turtle

Ollie Owl’s NaturePlayGround at ChesLen Preserve is now habitat to a unique turtle. This oversized critter was carved from a red oak tree that came down in a storm and donated to the play space by Jim Ward, a member of Natural Lands’ President’s Council and the principal of John B. Ward & Co. Tree Experts.

The 1,000-pound reptile was craned into place last month and is just one of the planned upgrades for the NaturePlayGround. Faux stumps and a giant hollow log made from durable materials will be added soon, provided by support from Wells Fargo, Chatham Financial, and Essent.

When kids play outdoors, they form lifelong connections to the natural world. Ollie Owl’s NaturePlayGround at our ChesLen Preserve is part of our commitment to unstructured outdoor play.
