Mariton: Storm Clean-Up Update

April 3, 2013

by Tim Burris, Preserve Manager

It looks like the removal of downed trees from Hurricane Sandy won’t start until late April.  We had some issues with coordinating the paperwork and schedules for the logging crew.  That set back out time table a little.  It would have been ideal to do the job during February or March when plants were dormant.  We just couldn’t get everything in order for that to happen.  I am hoping that things stay relatively dry, to limit the soil disturbance.  There will be quite a bit disturbance, but dry soils will be better.

So, all the trail are open.  The exception is a section of the Turnpike Trail.  You can walk up the Turnpike Trail from the parking lot, but you will have to take the Sqeeze Trail from there to the meadows, or any other trails.
