Mariton: Nest Box Update

July 9, 2012

by Tim Burris, Preserve Manager

Activity in the nest boxes is winding down.   This young Bluebird and its three siblings didn’t appreciate all of the light that I let in when I checked their nest box.  They are about 10 days from fledging.  The juveniles from the first brood are still hanging around the yard, although not as quite as much.  When these youngsters leave the nest, I imagine we will see both broods together in the woods on the edge of the yard.

There is one Tree Swallow nest with 5 eggs, but the female hasn’t started sitting yet.
