Mariton: May Showers

June 13, 2012

by Tim Burris, Preserve Manager

May was the first month with above average rainfall so far this year.  We ended the month with 5.37 inches at Mariton, and the average is 4.69”.  It was a wet month in which I recorded rainfall on nineteen days.  (We received 8.53” in May 1998.)

Looking at the totals to date, we are about six inches below average.  March was very dry with less than an inch for the month.  Still, I don’t think it is dry here.  The water table is still high thanks to a wet 2011.  Since the growing season began, we have received rain regularly.
