Mariton: March Rains

April 1, 2014

by Tim Burris, Preserve Manager

March was a dry month, until this past weekend.  I ended the month with 3.53 inches of precipitation, but 2.55 inches have fallen since Thursday night.  Before the weekend, we were very close to the driest March (which was 0.96 in 2006).  Other than a dusting of snow, all of the precipitation was liquid rain.  Other nearby locations received a few inches of snow during various events during March, but they all missed Mariton.

The average precipitation for March is 4.08 inches.  Even though we are a little below average this month, we are still 2.31 inches above the average for the first quarter of the year because of the wet (and snowy) February.
