Mariton: Interesting Fungi

This interesting fungus was in a crack of tree bark.  The tree was hit by lightning several years ago, and the bark is peeling away in many places.  (There are still leaves on the tree though.)  Erich noticed it on our Tuesday Walk, and Carole took a photo for later study.  I am thinking it is either a Cauliflower Mushroom or Sweet Knot, but I wouldn’t stake anything on that guess.  I just enjoy its appearance.
