Mariton: Birding Again

April 14, 2016

by Tim Burris, Preserve Manager

I never stop birding, but at this time of year I get a little more excited.  The birding is pretty good at Mariton. It isn’t crazy like it will be in a few weeks, but it is fun.  I saw a Hermit Thrush earlier this week.  A few Black and White Warblers are back.  Flocks of Yellow-rumped Warblers have been chattering in the woods.  The Chipping Sparrows are also back and I watched a pair flirting this morning.

Tufted Titmice, Chickadees and Cardinals are breaking into song as the sun gets stronger and the days get longer. The various woodpeckers are also calling and drumming.  The White-throated Sparrows are still around and singing.  It is a great time to grab the binoculars and get out to watch and listen.
