Crow’s Nest: the second goat rodeo
By Dan Barringer, Crow’s Nest Preserve Manager
We moved goats Seamus and Duffy up the road on dog leashes a couple weeks ago to their summer pasture, where they will eat multiflora rose and mile-a-minute to improve habitat at Crow’s Nest. That’s Seamus on the near side mugging for the camera.
They seem happy with the move and are already starting in on the multiflora rose. We are improving our ability to move our grazing and browsing animals (cattle and goats) to where we need them at the preserve, using portable fencing, extra water troughs, and adapting a trailer for moving cattle.
