Crow’s Nest: Fall volunteers’ tree planting October 27

October 19, 2012

There are plenty of volunteer opportunities occurring at Natural Lands Trust. The 2012-13 class of Force of Nature volunteers begins their training tomorrow (the sessions are filled, but we’ll hold another next year).

Also click on the Events tab on our website to see other one-day volunteer opportunities at various locations: planting trees or freeing trees from invasive vines.

At Crow’s Nest Preserve we’ll be holding one such volunteer day on Saturday, October 27 from 9 – 12 (rain date Sunday October 28 from 1 – 4 pm). We’ll be planting trees and shrubs to restore a former lawn back to a woodland edge, “sealing” it against desicating winds, penetrating light, and weed seeds. This will be nearly the final, and most important, step in an exciting project that has been progressing for a year.

Bring sturdy shoes or boots, work gloves, and a water bottle.

Call Dan at 610-286-7955 to sign up, or register online through the events listing.
