community green spaces

Creating park master plans, designing trail networks, and helping communities make the most of their open space opportunities. Natural Lands is here to connect people−in cities, suburbs, and rural areas−to the outdoors.

nature footholds

Nature isn’t all about big spaces. Pocket parks and community trails bring nature to neighborhoods. But not everyone’s neighborhood is as green as it could be.

Natural Lands works with community partners to identify special spaces like parks, playgrounds, and other outdoor areas, and then tap into our planning expertise to help improve them.

We’ve worked with communities like Coatesville to create master plans and revitalize numerous parks, including nature play features and a splash pad for summer fun. We’ve partnered with Philadelphia non-profits to imagine and implement improvements to their public spaces in Tacony Creek Park and along the Delaware River.

growing greener

We’re all about open space, but we recognize that vibrant communities expand and change. So, we’re here to help municipal leaders make smart, proactive decisions today so their towns can green as they grow tomorrow.

We offer consultation services to townships who want to improve their zoning codes so that land is set aside as open space when development occurs. We also help them raise money for open space initiatives, improve the way they manage their park systems to balance the needs of people and nature, develop park master plans, and much more.

why protecting land matters

Every acre we save cleans and cools the air we breathe, soaks up floodwaters, provides wildlife with habitat, filters the water we drink, and brings humans improved health and joy.
