stewardship planning

Natural areas don’t take care of themselves. They need our help so that people, plants, and wildlife can all thrive.

caring for land so we all thrive

Contrary to the old adage, “let nature take its course,” natural areas need help to become—and remain—places where people, plants, and wildlife can thrive. Without intervention, invasive plants quickly take over, white-tailed deer eat their way through the forest understory, and heavy rains cause flooding and stream bank erosion.

At Natural Lands, we are continually searching for sustainable ways to care for both public and private lands that will complement tried and true methods of stewardship, honed over decades. Our experts can help you plan for stewardship of your land, to sustain or restore forests, wetlands and meadows, protect important habitats, and keep our waterways clean, all while connecting to nature on sustainable trails.

With more than 23,000 acres of our own land, we’re experts in sustainable methods to manage open space. We are pleased to share our expertise with individual landowners, institutions, and municipalities through our fee-based consulting services.
