Stoneleigh’s magnificent trees represent more than 150 years of landscape design and careful stewardship. Their leafy boughs comfort us, help clean our air, and provide the garden’s architectural and ecological framework.

When you arrive, you’ll likely be greeted by our guest relations team or volunteer ambassadors. They’ll happily orient you, answer questions, and offer suggestions for your visit. You can also view and download our garden map and guide.

You’re welcome to wander the gardens and explore on your own. Guided tours of the garden and Main House (which is otherwise closed to guests) are available with prior arrangement.

Amateur photographers are welcome to take photos. Professionals wishing to photograph at Stoneleigh should review our photography policy to understand some restrictions and guidelines.

what to expect

There is a 63-car asphalt parking lot at the main entrance to the garden at 1829 East County Line Road, Villanova, PA 19085.

Parking is free.

Accessible parking: There are three accessible parking spaces.

Path surfaces: Path surfaces vary from porous pavement to bluestone to mown grass. The grade is generally flat. 

Areas with gentle to no slope:

  • The parking lot, the Great Lawn Loop, and the Main House are all accessible areas.
  • Most garden pathways are accessible for people of various abilities. There is a porous path walking loop more than a mile long around and through the garden. Bluestone paths are on flat slope.

Benches and rest areas: There are seating options and rest areas throughout the garden. You’ll find places to sit at the Welcome Kiosk; along Great Lawn loop; along the meadow vista loop; at the Oval Garden; near the pergola; at the Main House terrace; and along the weeping cherries path. There are  two large tables and benches at the covered pavilion near Catalpa Court.

Motorized wheelchairs and other power-driven mobility devices are welcome for visitors with disabilities.

Service animals providing assistance for visitors with disabilities are welcome.

Restrooms: There are accessible, multi-stall, men’s and women’s restrooms at the Pool House. They do not have an automatic door. They are open during garden hours and for events.

Drinking fountain: There is a drinking fountain at the Pool House, though it is turned off during winter months.

Other facilities: The covered pavilion at Catalpa Court has benches and two large tables which are great for picnics or studying. The Pool House is open for garden events and private rentals. The Main House is open for garden events, private rentals, and tours by appointment.
