Wild Ginger
Asarum canadense
Easy-to-grow, shade-tolerant, deer-resistant, and absolutely adorable – wild ginger has it all. In spring, underneath the large, heart-shaped leaves that emerge, you can find the flower of wild ginger. Its reddish brown color and proximity to the ground indicates it isn’t trying to attract bees or butterflies, but small pollinating flies.
