Tufted Hairgrass
Deschampsia cespitosa
This cool season native grass has fine-textured, semi-evergreen foliage with flowers that rise 2-3′ above the tufted basal foliage. They turn a beautiful golden brown as the season goes on and don’t cut them down right away! They add wonderful interest to the winter landscape.
Conditions: Shade to part sun; average to moist soil
