Trout Lily
Erythronium americanum
Trout Lily is one of the first plants to appear in the spring. The foliage delights with a kaleidoscope of greens and maroon. Yellow nodding blooms arrive in March. The foliage dies back mid-summer so plant in a mixed bed to allow other plants to fill in. They will slowly form colonies given proper growing conditions providing an early ground cover.
