Mountain Laurel
Kalmia latifolia ‘Carol’
The Mountain Laurel bloom is an iconic spring event in Pennsylvania woodlands, so it is no surprise it earned the title of PA state flower. ‘Carol’ has reddish-pink buds which emerge as pale pink when fully open. This evergreen shrub has glossy foliage that looks good year-round. Mountain Laurel flower stamens have unique, springlike mechanisms which spread pollen when tripped by a bee!
