Cranberry

Vaccinium macrocarpon ‘Stevens’

Cranberry really shows off all that a mini-shrub has to offer. It is evergreen, edible, and low maintenance. It is also an excellent choice to add biodiversity to your garden. Being host plant to 280 species of moths and butterflies means it supports more than most trees, all in a tiny, compact package. ‘Stevens’ produces some of the largest fruit of any selection. Use as a ground cover, or in a container to cascade over the side of a pot. As long as it has adequate moisture, this unique plant can transform your garden with its little leaves, delicious fruit, and wonderful wildlife value.

Conditions: Full sun to part shade; moist to boggy soil
Size: 1′ tall, 2′ spread
Zone: 4 – 9
Wildlife Value: Flowers attract long-tongued bees, including some specialist bees; fruits loved by wildlife, including birds and small mammals; larval host for several butterfly and moth species
