Barren Strawberry

Geum fragaroides

Barren Strawberry is an excellent choice for anyone who needs a low-growing, evergreen groundcover. Its cheerful golden yellow flowers generally bloom in April and May, and the glossy, strawberry-like foliage remains attractive all year long. It does not produce edible fruit (hence the term ‘barren’ strawberry). Barren Strawberry is a tough plant, forming a dense, weed-suppressing carpet and tolerating a wide range of soils as long as it is well draining.
