Timothy A. Burris
Preserve Manager/Wildlife Management Coordinator
As preserve manager of Mariton Wildlife Sanctuary, Tim oversees stewardship of the property, hosts bird and butterfly walks, and leads youth education programs. He says his job requires two things: the ability to shift gears quickly when something comes up, and his Leatherman. “I can’t tell you how often I use it every day.”
One of Tim’s proudest moments on the job has been listening to a 7th grader—who had attended Mariton’s camp for many summers—explain a concept with authority to younger campers, knowing that she’d learned it from him.
Prior to working for Natural Lands, Tim worked for Pennypack Watershed Association and The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education as a naturalist and land manager, respectively. He holds a degree in Environmental Health Sciences.
Ask Tim about: spring flowers and freestyle canoeing.
