Stewardship Assistant - North
As a stewardship assistant to our more northernly preserves, Nick is responsible for a lot of the behind-the-scenes work to keep our properties beautiful and enjoyable to visit.
His workdays are spent in forests and meadows, a contrast from his previous role as an architectural project coordinator for Philadelphia Parks & Recreation where he worked on design and construction management of City park capital improvements. He has also worked as a facilities technician at Greensgrow Farm, an urban farm in Kensington; created planting designs for Philadelphia Water Department’s Green Stormwater Infrastructure program; and has taught in the landscape architecture and city & regional planning departments at Temple University.
Nick has his undergraduate degree in English from Oberlin College and a master’s in landscape architecture from Temple University.
“Growing up in rural New Jersey, I spent a lot of time poking around a creek running through our woods, getting lost in thought and the rhythm of the natural world,” Nick shares. “Now that I have two daughters, I get to revisit that excitement and sense of possibility through their eyes when we go on walks in the woods, looking for sticks, leaves, pebbles, and pinecones.”
