Heather Smith

Director of Institutional Giving

As part of our Development Department, Heather manages foundation and corporate relationships. In this role, she connects these partners to Natural Lands while helping to achieve the agencies’ philanthropic goals.

A native of Delaware County, now living in Chester County with her husband and son, Heather recalls with fondness childhood memories of playing in the creek and exploring the woods near her grandparents’ home. “Exploring nature is still a favorite pastime,” says Heather, “however my adventures these days are a bit less dirty.”

Heather launched her career with nonprofits at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle. She returned to our area in 1998 working for the Philadelphia Museum of Art, then spent several years as associate director of development at Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art. Most recently, Heather was the director of major giving for Pennsylvania at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

Heather earned her BA in Art History from the University of Delaware, and her master’s degree in Organizational and Strategic Leadership from Neumann University.
