David B. Steckel

Senior Stewardship Planner

David began his Natural Lands career in 1986 and coordinated the day-to-day operations of our preserve system for almost 20 years before he segued into other organizational roles.

In his current position, David makes much of Natural Lands’ work possible by identifying and securing grant funding for conservation, stewardship, and community engagement projects. But Director of Grant Fundraising is just one hat he wears here. As Senior Stewardship Planner, David acts as a consultant to municipal and institutional clients and private landowners.

David is a professional consulting forester in the State of Pennsylvania and has served for two decades on the State Steering Committee for the Forestry Stewardship Program.

David holds a B.S. in Geography from the University of Hawaii and an M.S. in Forest Science from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
