Darin W. Groff

Preserve Manager/Fire Management Coordinator

Darin has been working at Natural Lands since he was 14! His career with us began as an intern; today, Darin is preserve manager for our Binky Lee Preserve. He was instrumental in founding the organization’s prescribed fire program (his dad was a Forest Fire Warden and fire chief), and he serves as our Fire Management Coordinator.

In addition to maintaining his certifications for several roles in the prescribed burning process, Darin is also a certified PA Forest Fire Warden and a Class B Sawyer, has received certifications for pesticide application, and completed an arborist course through Penn State University. Darin trained in farriering (shoeing horses) at Meredith Manor Equine College.

Darin finds it easy to get out of bed on workdays because, as he says, “My office is the outdoors!”

Ask Darin about: hiking almost all of the high peaks in the eastern US.
