Daniel J. Barringer

Preserve Manager/Invasives Management Coordinator

In addition to his responsibilities as preserve manager, Dan is Natural Lands’ Invasives Management Coordinator. Dan works hard to maintain the preserves, but he is proudest watching kids at Crow’s Nest’s Summer Camps grow up into nature-loving adults.

Though he loves the preserve where he works (and lives), Dan’s favorite place to be outside is the Appalachian Mountains. “[Crow’s Nest Preserve is] so beautiful—but when I’m there I see all the work that I need to do!” Dan’s recipe for accomplishing a lot in a day is “a good list of prioritized projects, a relatively empty email inbox, and a cup of organic coffee.”

Before working for Natural Lands, Dan was an education intern at Morris Arboretum, a member of the landscape crew at Haverford College Arboretum, and an urban forestry intern for the USDA Forest Service.

Dan is a Master Urban Gardener, Certified Pesticide Applicator, and Firing Boss (FIRB) for Prescribed Fire. He earned a certificate in Ornamental Horticulture from Longwood. Dan has a B.A. in English from Haverford College.
