Barrett is one of Natural Lands’ stewardship assistants, who play an essential role in caring for our many preserves across the region. Barrett will focus his energies on Mariton wildlife Sanctuary as well as Diabase Farm, Paunacussing, and Gwynedd Preserves.
In addition to his skills in trail maintenance, invasive plant management, carpentry, and sawyer work, Barrett is an experienced environmental educator. Before joining Natural Lands, he worked as an educator for Wildlands Conservancy.
Other work experience includes a year as a chainsaw crew leader with the Montana Conservation Corps, and four years with the Student Conservation Association working on trails and environmental education in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and New York, and Pennsylvania.
Barrett says his favorite place outside is in the woods just after it snows. “Everything is quiet and still. It’s otherworldly.”
Barrett holds a B.A. in environmental science from Goshen College, Wilderness First Responder certification, and Game of Logging level 2 certification.
