Crow’s Nest Intern for Environmental Education and Land Stewardship
As Crow’s Nest Preserve’s intern, Alison’s days are rarely spent doing the same thing twice! In addition to helping the preserve manager care for the land (including removing invasive plants, tending trails, maintaining native plant gardens, and restore natural areas) she also assists the preserve educator in all aspects of the Crow’s Nest education program.
When she’s not working, she is rarely still. “It is equally likely that I will be playing some musical instrument, going on a run, studying another language, or trying to do all of the above at the exact same time.”
Her experience prior to joining Natural Lands includes working as a nature specialist and arts and crafts instructor designing low-waste STEM activities for YMCA campers, a stint as recreation specialty instructor teaching kids and teens for the Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, and a month leading college-aged volunteers in sustainable and organic gardening at a farm in West Virginia.
Alison earned her bachelor of science in biology from Saint Joseph’s University. She completed Natural Lands’ Force of Nature® volunteer training program in 2018.
Ask Alison about: “Anything. I love learning and picking up new hobbies.”
