Kersten Appler

Director of Planned Giving

Kersten works with two of Natural Lands’ most loyal groups of supporters: White Oak Society, which honors donors of 10 years or more, and Allston Jenkins Legacy Society, a group of visionaries who have included Natural Lands in their long-range financial and/or estate plans.

The mission of land conservation and the community in and around nonprofits that do this work has long resonated with her. Prior to joining Natural Lands, Kersten spent more than a decade at French & Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust in their land protection department and then as director of development and operations. She also spent many years at Brandywine Conservancy as an assistant easement manager.

Kersten graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.A. in geography and environmental soil science. After graduation, she spent three years with Peace Corps Panama volunteering in sustainable agriculture. She has received certificates from Georgetown University in nonprofit management, Chester County Planning Commission in master planning, and La Salle University in fundraising.
