Darin Groff
Regional Manager of Land Stewardship
Darin has been working at Natural Lands since he was 14! His career with us began as an intern, graduated to preserve manager, and, today, Darin oversees about half of our nature preserves. He was instrumental in founding the organization’s prescribed fire program (his dad was a Forest Fire Warden and fire chief), and he serves as our Fire Management Coordinator.
Darin is a certified PA Forest Fire Warden and is active in federal and state fire management where he is qualified as a federal Incident Commander, Crew Boss, and Task Force and Strike Team Leader. He has received certifications for pesticide application, and completed an arborist course through Penn State University. Darin trained in farriering (shoeing horses) at Meredith Manor Equine College.
Darin finds it easy to get out of bed on workdays because, as he says, “My office is the outdoors!”
