Preserving Community Open Space

Natural Lands Trust has been preserving land in the region for more than 60 years. In that time, we’ve helped dozens of municipalities work with landowners to realize the dream of protecting open space… forever.

We’ve learned that conservation success requires a commitment to understanding a landowner’s needs and crafting a specific solution that best suits their goals. Unfortunately, municipalities rarely have the staff time to engage landowners in long-term negotiations.

This is where we can help. Our land protection staff’s experience and expertise is available to you to help your community implement its open space programs. We can help with every aspect of a conservation transaction: identifying priority properties, negotiating with landowners, and completing acquisitions and easements directly. We can even help with open space referenda and to prepare grants for state and county funding programs.
