We had a great morning cutting vines on Wednesday. We worked on a hedgerow that has not had any management done to it in many years and so there were plenty of invasive plants displacing native blackhaw viburnum, spicebush, and young oak trees. It’s best to do this with many hands; volunteers selectively cut the nonnative bittersweet, honeysuckle, privet, autumn olive, multiflora rose, and winged euonymous.

Below, Judith smiles as she cuts a hole into the vines to be able to reach their base for cutting. Please join us on the first Wednesday of each month where we’ll pick a strategic project to tackle. You can find our workdays listed on the Natural Lands events calendar online, where you can sign up.
