Success! State environmental funding boosted
Dear Friends;
The Pennsylvania state budget for the upcoming fiscal year has been finalized, and I am thrilled to share that Growing Greener III (referred to in the budget as an Outdoor Recreation Program) and the newly created Clean Streams Fund have been included. This represents $640 million in new investments in conservation, clean water, parks, and recreation. All of you who wrote letters, sent emails, or made calls to your elected officials helped make this possible. Thank you so much for lifting your voices to ensure a legacy for generations to come.
I also want to extend special appreciation to the Representatives and Senators in the General Assembly who supported this initiative, and to Governor Wolf’s administration. Champions on both sides of the aisle recognized the importance of making this investment and, with bi-partisan support, made sure this opportunity was not squandered.
Natural Lands and our many colleagues around the state, including non-profits, state agencies, counties, and municipalities, are ready to put this investment to work. Together, we will protect more open spaces, enhance public parks and trails, and ensure cleaner waterways.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Oliver Bass
President, Natural Lands
P.S. Elected officials also love to hear from their constituents when the message is “thank you.” If you have time in the next few days to share your appreciation, I know it will be well received. You can find your representative and senator here.
